Sir Isaac Newton for Kids

Sir Isaac Newton (1642 - 1727) was an English scientist who made great contributions to physics, optics, math and astronomy. Among elementary and middle-school students, he is best known for his Three Laws of Motions and the Universal Law of Gravitation. Have you heard the story about an apple dropping on Newton's head? Learn more at the following sites.
NASA: Newton's Three Laws of Motion
"The motion of an aircraft through the air can be explained and described by physical principals discovered over 300 years ago by Sir Isaac Newton." This illustrated, hyperlinked lesson created by NASA introduces Newton's Laws of Motion and how they apply to aviation. The grade-level buttons (labeled 6-8, 9-12, and 11-12) link to related worksheets, activities, and quizzes. Stay on the Newton Guided Tour by navigating with the Next and Previous buttons, or jump to a new section by visiting the colored buttons (such as Kite Index or Model Rocket Index.)
The Physics Classroom: Newton's Laws of Motion
The Physics Classroom is an illustrated, animated tutorial for high-school students written by high-school science teacher Tom Henderson. These four lessons explain Newton's Laws of Motion with multimedia demonstrations and quizzes. My favorite clicks are the interactive activities listed in the Shockwave Physics Studio and the animations found in Multimedia.
PBS: Newton's Dark Secrets
"He was the greatest scientist of his day, perhaps of all time. But while Isaac Newton was busy discovering the universal law of gravitation, he was also searching out hidden meanings in the Bible and pursuing the covert art of alchemy. In this program, NOVA explores the strange and complex mind of Isaac Newton." Although few classrooms probably explore this side of Newton's fascinating character, I include it for variety. Best clicks are His Legacy, and Einstein on Newton.

CherryHillRAM.com And on the eighth day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, "I need a caretaker." So God made a farmer. God said, "I need somebody willing to get up before dawn, milk cows, work all day in the field, milk cows again, eat supper, then go to town and stay past midnight at a meeting of the school board." So God made a farmer. God said, "I need somebody willing to sit up all night with a newborn colt and watch it die, then dry his eyes and say,'Maybe next year,' I need somebody who can shape an ax handle from an ash tree, shoe a horse with hunk of car tire, who can make a harness out hay wire, feed sacks and shoe scraps. Who, during planting time and harvest season will finish his 40-hour week by Tuesday noon and then, paining from tractor back, put in another 72 hours." So God made the farmer. God said, "I need somebody strong enough to clear trees and heave bales, yet gentle enough to yean lambs and wean pigs and tend the pink-comb pullets, who will stop his mower for an hour to splint the leg of a meadowlark." It had to be somebody who'd plow deep and straight and not cut corners. Somebody to seed, weed, feed, breed, and brake, and disk, and plow, and plant, and tie the fleece and strain the milk, . Somebody who'd bale a family together with the soft, strong bonds of sharing, who would laugh, and then sigh and then reply with smiling eyes when his son says that he wants to spend his life doing what Dad does. "So God made a farmer." (Paul ...

Anatomy and Physiology Exams - Tips on How to Pass Successfully

In order to pass your Anatomy and Physiology exams it is very important that you have an understanding of the body's structures and how they function. It may not be as difficult as it first appears. As long as you are equipped with the right information it can become a less worrying, anxious time.
The following are some tips that will help you to pass your Anatomy and Physiology exams;
1. Have an organized and structured revision plan.
Before you start revising you need to write out your plan and date it. This is very important. Once you have a plan written out in front of you, the amount of work you need to cover may not be as overwhelming. An example of a plan could be:
Subject Start Date Finish Date
The Skin 14th March 18th March
The Nervous System 19th March 24th March
2. Have a set of multiple choice questions to test yourself.
Multiple choice questions are an ideal way to learn this difficult subject. There should be one question with four possible answers and only one answer must be chosen. As a result, there is no room for error.
3. Write out your multiple choice questions on record cards.
Revision cards are great because they are small enough to carry around with your during the day. Take about 20-30 questions daily and write these out on the cards. Whether you are on the train going to work or in the queue at the bank, take out your questions and learn them over and over.
4. Complete practice quizzes throughout your studies. Puzzles and quizzes are a fantastic way to learn different terms and functions of Anatomy and Physiology. Take the quizzes time and time again until you are confident with the particular area that you are studying.
Having a good Anatomy and Physiology study guide is an essential part to any study plan. If you have that, coupled with your revision plan, you will find that those Anatomy and Physiology exams may not be that daunting after all.
